Wold Top Brewery - Marmalade Porter

If I asked you to think of a Yorkshire ale, what comes to mind?

Tetley's... or maybe John Smiths....
Well I agree with you, I conjure an image of good, old fashioned, full of flavour beers. However Wold Top brewery have taken Yorkshire beers to the next level. Their Marmalade Porter is an exception to the rule.

It is poured similarly to Guinness and takes on similar characteristics including a dark liquid with a medium-sized head. However the flavour is none like I have ever tasted before. With a sweet and full-bodied malty flavour, this beer has hints of dark chocolate and orange hiding beneath its layers.

And no. Before you discard my opinion as "critical-connoisseur, up-his-own-arse bollocks" I must stress to you that I am not making it up. You really can taste the orange and chocolate. Its nothing short of amazing.

For this reason I feel no regret in giving this beer a healthy 7 out of 10. Its different, its flavoursome, and it certainly is one to try before you die!
