Wychwood Brewery - Imperial Red

Hello ladies and gents. Today I'm reviewing another of Wychwoods beers: Imperial Red. Pouring it into the glass for the first time proves interesting as it's a deep ruby red flavour with a strong carbonation.

As far as tasting goes, it's slightly biscuity with a bitter bite at the end. It's also worth noting the caramel hops giving it a sweet and spicy note.

If I'm honest it doesn't totally blow me away. I was really hoping that it would be as good as Hobgoblin but it just feels slightly blander and not as characterful.

I mean it's okay, I'll give it a 5 out of 10 but that's as generous as I'm going to get! It will go well with chilli or something oriental. Hopefully Wychwood will restore my confidence with another ale in the future.
