Where do I start? Ireland's biggest export, a thing of beauty. Loved by almost everyone. Barmen enjoy poring the perfect pint, punters enjoy its simplicity, and women ruin it with blackcurrant.
This dark stout provides a roasted un-malted barley flavour that is extremely filling. It was commonly speculated that the making process involved mixing aged Guinness with newly brewed Guinness to give it the tangy flavour it is well known for.
The creamy white head on top is created by mixing the brew with nitrogen when poured to give it the characteristic white-on black effect.
I find it really difficult to rate this beer. It is a thing of beauty, a thing of history and culture. Who am I to give it a rating? More importantly, who would listen to me if I did?
It is there to be enjoyed. So enjoyed it shall be...
